Spellbreak, developed by Proletariat Inc., brought a fresh and magical take to the battle royale genre. Released in 2020, the game stood out by replacing guns and bullets with spells and sorcery, offering players a high-fantasy experience filled with fast-paced action and elemental combat.

In Spellbreak, players assume the role of Battlemages who wield gauntlets infused with elemental powers such as fire, ice, wind, stone, toxic, and lightning. Each element comes with unique attacks and abilities, and players can combine two elements to create powerful and strategic spell combos—for example, using a tornado and igniting it with fire for a fiery whirlwind.

The game’s movement system also set it apart. With the ability to levitate, dash, teleport, and soar through the air, Spellbreak offered a vertical, agile combat style that encouraged both aggressive play and clever evasion. The large, stylized map featured floating ruins, forests, and magical zones, enhancing the fantasy feel.
